Blackpool are no longer considering a move for Accrington Stanley striker Colby Bishop, as per a report from The Gazette.

The report states that the Championship club had agreed a fee and personal terms, however, they are pulling out of the race to sign the exciting League One striker.

A Patreon report on Sunday from journalist Alan Nixon revealed that Blackpool had matched a bid from Portsmouth that was around the £500,000 mark, with MK Dons also showing interest.

With Blackpool seemingly pulling out of this particular race, it remains to be seen if Pompey or even MK Dons will go on to secure his signature.

The Seasiders are hoping that they can continue on their upward trajectory under Michael Appleton's stewardship, with Blackpool using the lower league markets to great effect over the past couple of seasons.

The verdict

A player who has shown the abilities that would justify a second-tier move, it was no surprise to see Blackpool joining the race for the exciting forward.

It is unknown why the Seasiders have opted against pursuing a deal for the 25-year-old but this will come as a big boost for Portsmouth and MK Dons.

Perhaps Blackpool have another deal in the pipeline, something that would make a move for Bishop not worthwhile, so it will be interesting to see the Championship club's movements over the next couple of weeks.

A player who has shown great ability in League One, he would be an excellent pick-up at the top end of the division, where Portsmouth and MK Dons want to be.
