Chelsea have slapped a £50m price tag on Tammy Abraham's head this month according to the Mirror, which is sure to be a huge boost for Dean Smith's Aston Villa.

Earlier reports from Sky Sports News suggested that Abraham was set to be recalled by the Blues, with Wolves eyeing a swoop for the in-form striker.

But this speculation soon cooled, and it was revealed by BBC Sport that the 21-year-old was set to stay with Aston Villa for the remainder of his loan spell until the end of the season.

This latest development is likely to end any hope that Premier League clubs had of striking a deal to sign Abraham, which can only be positive news for Villa.

It's clear to see why Premier League clubs were chasing the Chelsea forward, as he has been in excellent form for Aston Villa this season in the Championship.

Abraham has 16 goals to his name and is the league's top goalscorer, and Dean Smith will be hoping that the striker can continue to score goals to fire Villa into the top six in the near future.

He has recently returned to training after declining Wolves' offer, and is likely to be involved for the promotion chasing side this weekend.

Aston Villa are currently sat 10th in the Championship table and are just five points adrift of the play-off places heading into their game against Wigan Athletic.

The Verdict:

This is a quite astonishing valuation of Abraham by Chelsea.

It's good news for Villa though as it's unlikely that any Premier League club will be willing to stump up that much money to secure a deal for the striker.

Abraham will be crucial to Aston Villa's promotion bid this season, and he'll be keen to keep up his impressive goalscoring form.
