Bayer Leverkusen are keen on Fulham's Aleksandar Mitrovic after the Cottagers were relegated to the Championship.

The target man was one of few positives for the Londoners last season, as he managed to score 11 league goals in what was a tough campaign for the club.

Therefore, the Serb was always going to be a man in demand and top-flight pair Southampton and West Ham have been linked with Mitrovic in the past few months.

However, they could face competition for the 24-year-old, with the Sky Sports Transfer Centre (11:03) revealing that reports from Germany are suggesting Leverkusen want the player.

The chance to move to the Bundesliga side may appeal to Mitrovic, with Die Werkself also able to offer Champions League football having finished fourth last season in what was a successful year.

Whilst Scott Parker will be reluctant to lose Mitrovic, who scored 12 goals in 20 games when he was last in the second-tier to help Fulham to promotion, he will be aware that funds need to be raised following relegation.

So, Mitrovic could be one of many departures at Craven Cottage over the coming months.

The Verdict

It's no surprise to see Mitrovic linked with some top clubs around Europe because he was one of few Fulham players who enhanced their reputation last season.

He is a very good player and is still very young, with his best years ahead of him.

So, a summer exit does seem inevitable and the player will want to play at a higher level but Fulham must do all they can to ensure they get a big fee.
