Premier League side Crystal Palace have entered the race for Bristol City midfielder Josh Brownhill with just nine days of the transfer window left.

Teamtalk are reporting that the central midfielder is being courted by the Eagles to try and strengthen their midfield options, which currently include the defensive minds of Luka Milivojevic, James McArthur, James McCarthy and Cheikhou Kouyate.

Crystal Palace aren't the only team in the Premier League that is trying to secure the services of Brownhill, as Burnley, Bournemouth, Southampton, Brighton and Leicester City are all thought to be showing an interest in the 24-year-old.

Sean Dyche's Burnley are currently the side that is leading the chase for the Robins skipper, as the Championship club attempts to negotiate a swap deal with the Clarets, bringing in striker Nahki Wells on a permanent deal while letting Brownhill move in the other direction.

It also emerged yesterday that there is a release clause in Brownhill's contract that allows him to move in the summer for a fixed fee of £7 million, which was included in the contract that Brownhill signed in December 2017.

The Verdict

Crystal Palace entering the race for Brownhill could have sparked a bidding war for the midfielder, as the other clubs interested with similar finances will be preparing themselves to match any offers.

With the transfer deadline just nine days away, there could be many twists and turns to come from this transfer as Brownhill finds himself in high demand from multiple clubs in the Premier League.
