As per a report in the Evening Standard, Charlton Athletic's new owners ignored six requests from the EFL over proof of funds before the governing body launched the current investigation being carried out concerning the Addicks.

The men from The Valley had hoped that they were finally going to be on a more positive path after Roland Duchatelet arrived at the club but, both Matt Southall and Tahnoon Nimer have been deeply unimpressive with the way they have managed things so far.

Indeed, the pair have put a personal battle higher on the agenda than the running of the club and it has left fans once again worried about the future of their side.

The EFL are currently looking into the situation, then, with it apparent that their request for proof of funds from the pair has been ignored on several occasions.

What a farce this is proving to be and, at the centre of it is a football club that deserves so much more.

They're still capable of keeping themselves afloat on the pitch in the Championship and could well avoid relegation but, off of it, huge questions remain and those running the club ought to start fronting up rather than hiding away.
