Fresh QPR player update emerges that may encourage Celtic and Rangers in transfer hunt

Published

on

Queens Park Rangers will be looking to record their first Championship victory since the opening day when they travel to winless Barnsley tonight.

Mark Warburton’s men were held to a goalless draw by Birmingham City on Saturday, which was their six consecutive match without winning, leaving the Londoners just three points above the relegation-zone.

Rangers are already without midfielder Luke Amos for this evening’s game at Oakwell after suffering a serious knee injury at Bournemouth recently – and Football Insider are reporting that the R’s will be without another midfielder in Yorkshire.

That’s because Bright Osayi-Samuel has been axed from the QPR squad after rejecting a new long-term deal at Loftus Road.

Osayi-Samuel has already entered the final 12 months of his contract, but this news comes as a major surprise – with the 22-year-old having started all of QPR’s Championship matches this term, plus September’s Carabao Cup game against Plymouth.

He’s contributed one goal and added one assist in eight appearances, but his future has been thrown into serious doubt following his omission.

Both Celtic and Rangers have been heavily linked with the winger over the past few months and this fresh QPR update could play into their hands as January fast approaches.

The Verdict

QPR’s start to the campaign has been tough enough without this extra disruption.

Not only are Rangers going to miss Osayi-Samuel’s quality against Barnsley, but could this spell the end of his career in West London?

Having lost Ebere Eze to Crystal Palace, this really isn’t ideal for Warburton, whose side are already struggling attacking wise, having netted just six times in their seven league matches and are already in danger of seeing themselves fall into a potential relegation battle.
