Queens Park Rangers boss Mick Beale is aiming to bring "several" members of his backroom team at Loftus Road to Rangers when he seals his switch to the Scottish Premiership side, according to an update from The Scottish Sun.

The 42-year-old was reportedly approached yesterday following days of speculation, as the ex-Aston Villa assistant head coach was heavily linked with the top job at Ibrox following the departure of Giovanni van Bronckhorst earlier this week.

According to The Athletic, QPR have granted the Gers permission to talk to Beale and it's now expected that he will make the move to Glasgow despite turning down an approach from Wolverhampton Wanderers last month.

This leaves QPR's Director of Football Les Ferdinand in a tricky situation with the former England international ideally needing to find a replacement for the club's current manager by the time they face Burnley in a fortnight.

It looks set to be a baptism of fire for a new manager - and they will probably need to bring their own backroom team in with Beale looking to take some of the club's coaches and analysts with him to Ibrox according to The Scottish Sun.

Rangers, meanwhile, are closing in on a deal that will see van Bronckhorst's staff depart the club, making way for Beale's own men.

The Verdict:

This is no real shock because he will want people he trusts around him as he prepares to make the leap to Ibrox, where he will be under pressure straight away if he doesn't get points on the board straight away.

And in fairness, the departure of his staff may be useful because it will allow the R's to make a fresh start under a new manager, who will hopefully be more committed to the project than Beale was.

Because he wasn't there too long, the former Villa coach's departure shouldn't be too much of a blow but it has frustratingly disrupted what looks to be a great project at Loftus Road, with the club in much better shape following Mark Warburton's spell.

Although there may not be a huge amount to spend for a new manager, he will have some great assets at his disposal already with the likes of Ilias Chair and Chris Willock likely to be major contributors in the final third.

If he wants to go with a back three though, another centre-back or two could be useful because they haven't got a huge amount of depth in this area at this point.
