Barnsley have no fresh injury concerns in their squad and have Aapo Halme and Samuel Radlinger fully fit again, according to Andy Giddings on Twitter.

Barnsley face Bristol City at the weekend and are hoping to turn their fortunes around with a positive result to move towards safety. They face a Bristol City side looking to continue their promotion push and at least stay in the top six.

Barnsley have endured a torrid start to life back in the Championship as they currently sit bottom of the league and manager-less, following the parting of ways between the club and Daniel Stendel. Their current run sees them sit four points from safety and having only one win on the board, which came on the opening day.

There were suggestions in Barnsley’s recent performances that there could be a turnaround on the cards, with impressive draws against promotion-chasing pair Swansea City and West Brom, but a disappointing loss away to a resurgent Huddersfield has brought the Tykes back down to Earth.

Going into the next game, Barnsley will be buoyed by the return of centre-back Aapo Halme and goalkeeper Samuel Radlinger.

The Austrian ‘keeper featured in Barnsley under-23s’ recent 3-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday along with the recovering Patrick Schmidt, who scored the final goal of the game. The return of the pair will add some cover to what has been a defence too porous of late, conceding the most goals in the division.

The Verdict

While Brad Collins has been the first-choice goalkeeper this season, the return of Radlinger is definitely still positive as it provides cover and competition for the number one. Also, the return of Halme helps out the defence that has not been at all settled this season.

Adam Murray will be hoping Barnsley can get back to winning ways against Bristol this weekend and will be pleased to see key players returning to the first-team.
