Swansea City winger Aldo Kalulu is set to miss his side's trip to face Huddersfield on Tuesday evening despite him edging closer to a return from injury, according to WalesOnline reporter Ian Mitchelmore.

Kalulu has not featured for the Swans since mid-August due to an ankle injury he suffered during the victory over Preston, and it now appears he is still not fit enough to feature for Steve Cooper's side.

The 23-year-old has made just two appearances since joining the Welsh side on loan from Basel over the summer, and he will now need to wait longer for his third outing after being ruled out of the upcoming Huddersfield match.

Cooper is reportedly keen to give the attacker another week to reach full fitness before his re-inclusion in the match-day squad, with the hope he will then play a more prominent role during the second half of the season.

Mitchelmore confirmed the news via his Twitter account on Monday:

Swansea will be aiming for a return to winning ways against the Terriers following their defeat to Millwall on Saturday, but Cooper will also be without the services of Joe Rodon and Jordon Garrick who remain injured.

The Verdict

Swansea fans would perhaps be forgiven for having forgotten about Kalulu given the fact he has only feature twice for Cooper's side, but his return will be a considerable boost for the Welsh side.

There was much excitement when the attacker arrived in South Wales over the summer, and he provides Cooper with another option in the Swansea boss' attacking unit which is already well-staffed .

The fact Cooper was keen to immediately integrate Kalulu into the side back in August suggests he values his services highly, and it would not be a surprise to see him play a key role in the second half of the season.
