Valladolid are looking to push through with the signing of Birmingham City's Ivan Sanchez on a permanent deal.

The wide man joined the Spanish side in the January window on an initial loan, and he impressed over the final few months of the campaign as they won promotion back to La Liga on a dramatic final day.

Helping take Valladolid to the top-flight was always going to increase Sanchez's chances of getting a permanent transfer and it appears that's the case.

That's after Pucela Fichajes claimed that the newly-promoted side are in talks to sign Sanchez on a long-term basis.

The initial move saw Valladolid have an option rather than an obligation to buy the player, so initial negotiations over a fee are likely to have taken place.

Providing the 29-year-old does move away, it means he will depart having made 44 appearances for Blues, the vast majority of which came in the 20/21 campaign, where he scored twice and registered seven assists before falling out of favour under Lee Bowyer last season.

The verdict

The reality is that Sanchez is unlikely to feature at Blues, particularly if Bowyer remains in charge, so a move away would make sense for all parties as the winger enters the final year of his contract.

For Sanchez, he will be desperate to play in La Liga and will be pleased that he managed to contribute for Valladolid at a crucial stage of the season.

So, you would expect this to go through in the coming weeks, clearing up wages and bringing in a fee for Birmingham.
