The future of Aberdeen midfielder Lewis Ferguson is likely to remain up in the air heading towards the summer transfer window.

The 21-year-old has been with the Scottish side since 2018, and has made 124 appearances in total for Aberdeen, having previously been on the books with Hamilton Academical.

41 of those appearances came in the 2020/21 season, as Aberdeen finished fourth in the Scottish Premiership, and it seems as though his performances for them didn't go unnoticed, with Ferguson chipping in with ten goals and five assists in all competitions this term.

Watford reportedly hold a strong interest in signing in signing Ferguson, with the Hornets already seeing bids rejected by Aberdeen.

That has prompted Ferguson to hand in a transfer request, which was reported by Record Sport earlier this week, as he looks to force through a move to Xisco Munoz's side this summer.

Ferguson's agent Bill McMurdo has recently revealed to Record Sport that he has been left fuming that Aberdeen haven't set an asking price for the midfielder yet.

A move to Vicarage Road is likely to be a tempting proposition for Ferguson as well, with the Hornets preparing for life back in the Premier League, after winning promotion from the Championship this season.

The Verdict:

Surely he'll be heading for the exit door at Aberdeen this summer?

Ferguson has impressed me with the Scottish side, and I think he's more than capable of making the step into the Premier League in the near future.

At the age of 21, he's still got his best years ahead of him, and Watford will be hoping that his future is with them if they can secure an agreement to land his signature in the near future.

Both Ferguson and his agent are evidently not happy with how Aberdeen have dealt with the situation at the moment, and you would imagine that the Scottish side won't want to risking keeping an unhappy player on their books heading into the new season.
