It has been another eventful week at Bolton Wanderers, with reports emerging that the club are now set to enter administration this week.

The club appeared in the High Court earlier this week due to a winding-up petition issued by HM Revenue & Customs over an unpaid tax bill of £1.2million. The Trotters are now facing a points deduction in League One next season after failing to secure a takeover deal to ease their financial troubles.

Ex-Watford owner Laurence Bassini had previously looked set to become Bolton's new owner, but his bid fell through when he failed to provide proof of funds to the EFL.

However, reliable journalist Alan Nixon is now reporting that a foreign consortium are now interested in buying the Trotters after being shown around the ground on Friday.

It is understood that this will not affect the club's administration process, as the unnamed group are contenders to buy the club once they have already entered administration.

The Verdict

It has been another concerning week for Bolton Wanderers, but this some much overdue positive news.

This suggests there could be light at the end of the tunnel once administration has been completed, but the club must firstly focus on the administration process before looking at potential buyers.

There have been so many unexpected issues arising so far, so although this update is encouraging, Bolton must firstly handle the immediate issues at hand.
