French giants readying £2.5m bid for Newcastle United midfield enforcer

It has emerged from an exclusive report by the Daily Mail that Ligue 1 side Marseille are preparing a bid for Newcastle United midfielder, Cheick Tiote.

Tiote is the latest Newcastle United player linked with a move away from St James’ Park after Newcastle United’s disappointing season saw them suffer relegation to the Championship.

It is apparent that Tiote is not part of Rafa Benitez’s plans as the 29-year-old midfielder was close to leaving the club during the winter transfer window. Tiote turned down moves to attempt to keep Newcastle United in the Premier League but now appears to have been nothing more than a symbolic gesture.

It appears from the reports that Ligue 1 side Marseille will put in a bid of £2.5 million, with Abu Dhabi side Al Jazira also showing an interest in the Ivorian midfielder.

It is looking likely that Tiote will leave Newcastle United this summer, with it looking like a matter of when and where he will move rather than if.

Newcastle fans, how do you feel about the news? Will you be disappointed to see Cheick Tiote leave? Do you think he deserves to stay? Who would you like to see come in to replace him? Let us hear your thoughts and opinions in the comment section below!
