“Free shot at the teams above us” – Fulham star talks about game in hand

Fulham goalkeeper David Button believes that Fulham should treat their game in hand as a “free shot” at trying to catch the teams above them, according to Get West London.

Relegation threatened Blackburn Rovers travel down to London tomorrow night to take on Fulham, with both teams having plenty to play for.

After a stunning 3-1 win over league leaders Newcastle United at St James’ Park on the weekend, Fulham will be heading into Tuesday night’s clash full of confidence.

Victory would see them rise above Sheffield Wednesday into sixth place in the Championship, with just nine games left to play.

Button said:

“It’s a big game for us but I don’t want to put too much pressure on it, it’s our game in hand and in a way we have a free shot at the teams above us.

“We’re gradually closing the gap and hopefully we can do that tomorrow night against Blackburn.”

Blackburn will also be eyeing their game in hand as a chance to rise above their relegation rivals.

They currently occupy the final spot in the bottom three but a draw would lift them out of the relegation zone at the expense of Bristol City.

A victory could take them as high as 18th, depending on Wolves’ result.
