Portsmouth will be looking to put their dismal league form to one side tonight, as they prepare to host bitter rivals Southampton in the third round of the Carabao Cup.

Kenny Jackett's side have won just one of opening seven games and occupy 20th spot in the Sky Bet League One table, despite going all the way to the play-off semi-finals last term.

The pressure is certainly starting to pile on the 57-year-old, and a defeat to their bitter rivals at Fratton Park could well be the final nail in his coffin despite the gulf in quality between the two sides.

It may be a Carabao Cup match, but there is still so much at stake tonight for both sides who haven't met in seven years - it is expected to be a ferocious South Coast derby for sure.

Ahead of the game, plenty of former players have wished Portsmouth well as they prepare to take on their bitter rivals, and the latest to do so is Frederic Piquionne.

The French forward scored 11 goals for Pompey in the 2009/10 campaign, after arriving at Fratton Park on loan from Lyon, and is still a figure that is adored by Blues fans.

He has now took to his Twitter page, to wish Pompey the best ahead of their big game tonight.

The Verdict

The pressure is well and truly on for Jackett's side to perform tonight - they have waited years for this derby clash, and they cannot waste this opportunity.

If Pompey lose, I really wouldn't be able to see any way back for Jackett, he needs the fans onside, and a defeat to their local rivals would not help that one bit.

A win, though, could transform their fortunes and turn around their season in my opinion.
