Sheffield Wednesday fell to a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Everton at Hillsborough in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday evening.

Garry Monk made a number of changes to his side from the team that drew with Fulham at the weekend, and his players got off to a slow start against the Premier League outfit.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin opened the scoring on the night after just six minutes, and then netted his second of the game just four minutes later to give the Toffees the best possible start.

But Sheffield Wednesday grew into the game, and spurned a number of good opportunities to get back into the contest against Everton.

Sam Winnall wasted their best chance of the game, but fired his effort over the crossbar, which won't have done his chances of a regular spot in the starting XI any good at all.

Plenty of Sheffield Wednesday fans took to social media to issue their thoughts on Winnall's performance in the defeat.
