Salford City booked their place in the final of the EFL Trophy with a dramatic penalty-shootout win over Newport County on Wednesday evening.

The League Two sides couldn't be separated in 90 minutes, and with the game finishing goalless, spot-kicks were needed to find a a winner.

Newport County's Ryan Inniss missed the crucial penalty to give the Ammies the win, and they'll know that they'll be the outsiders when they head to Wembley later this year.

They take on Portsmouth in the final, with Kenny Jackett's side beating Exeter City in a thrilling finish to their game at Fratton Park on Tuesday.

Salford City's trip to Wembley will be their second visit in as many seasons, as they beat AFC Fylde in the Vanarama National League Play-Off final last term.

It's safe to say that not every club's supporters were pleased to see Salford book their spot in the final at Wembley against Portsmouth.
