Derby County will be boosted by Curtis Davies' availability for their trip to Loftus Road this weekend.

Frank Lampard has been without his captain since the victory over Reading on the opening day of the season, but the Rams will be boosted by Davies’ availability when they take on Queens Park Rangers in London at the weekend.

Davies has missed the last 10 Championship fixtures with a hamstring problem, but after stepping up his return in training and with Derby’s under-23s, Lampard has confirmed he is in contention.

Speaking to Derby’s official media ahead of a trip to Loftus Road, Lampard was also able to provide updates on George Evans and Joe Ledley:

Despite missing their captain and talismanic defender for most of the season so far, Derby have enjoyed a good start to life under Lampard.

Derby currently sit eighth in the Championship table, level on points with Brentford in sixth.

Lampard is hoping his side can get back to winning ways against QPR, after a spell of indifferent results.

In their last six Championship fixtures, the Rams have picked up just two victories, with Lampard’s side drawing twice and suffering two defeats.

The Verdict

This is a timely boost for Derby, who need a lift going into October’s international break.

It might’ve been a strong start under Lampard, but results haven’t been good enough lately.

It’s important that Derby return to winning ways at Loftus Road.

Davies’ availability will help them do that.
