Leeds United were left frustrated at the weekend, as they were forced to settle for a point against Derby County at Elland Road.

The Whites took the lead on the day through a Max Lowe own-goal, and Mateusz Klich spurned a golden opportunity to double that lead from the penalty spot in the second-half.

The Polish international saw his spot-kick drift wide of the post, and Leeds were made to pay for missing some guilt-edge chances in front of goal.

Derby's Chris Martin snatched an unlikely point in injury-time as he fired home clinically from inside the penalty area to spark jubilant scenes in the away end.

The Rams have struggled this season under Phillip Cocu's guidance, who had the weight of expectation on his shoulders after Frank Lampard's success at Derby last term.

Derby's former assistant manager Jody Morris issued a sly dig at Leeds United after Martin netted a late equaliser, with Lampard responding to his comment on Derby's official Instagram page.

Elland Road is a place that Lampard will have fond memories of as a manager, after he guided Derby into the play-off final with a win over Leeds in the semi-final last season.

Although Derby eventually missed out on promotion to the Premier League that season, it will be one of the most forgettable games that Leeds fans won't want to think of anytime soon.

The Whites still remain top of the Championship table though, and will be hoping that they can return to winning ways this weekend, when they take on Charlton Athletic at The Valley.

The Verdict:

Derby fans will absolutely love this.

They rode their luck at times during the draw with Leeds at the weekend, so their supporters will be delighted to snatch a late point at Elland Road.

Morris' sly dig at Leeds will raise a smile that's for sure, and will bring back haunting memories back to Leeds supporters after their play-off semi-final defeat last season.
