Derby County manager Frank Lampard was quick to lavish the praise on today's opponents Sheffield United following his side's 3-1 loss at Bramall Lane.

In what was a great advert for Championship football on Boxing Day, Lampard's men were ultimately out fought and out played by a Blades side who were roared on by a ferocious home crowd.

And following the game, Lampard seemed to have no qualms with the result, insisting United are on the 'the best in the league'.

The message from Lampard will be big praise for Chris Wilder's side, who too often this season have put in fine performances only for the bounce of the ball or lady luck to go against them in front of goal and they be denied the three points.

There was no such result today though, as strikers Billy Sharp, Leon Clarke, and David McGoldrick all bagged for the home side.

A Harry Wilson stunner for the Rams was not enough to pick up a result for the away side, but Lampard will no doubt be quick to want to put it behind him and his players, while his acceptance of United being 'one of the best they've played', will offer some solace for the former Chelsea man.
