Brentford manager Thomas Frank has dropped some early team selection news ahead of this weekend's clash with Blackburn Rovers at Griffin Park.

The Bees will be looking to get back to winning ways in the race for promotion to the Premier League and Frank had some good news, revealing that winger Bryan Mbeumo would be fit for the match and would be starting after missing out on the trip to Birmingham last weekend - Emiliano Marcondes replaced him in the XI.

Speaking bluntly at his pre-match press conference, reported by the club's official Twitter account, Frank said: "Bryan Mbeumo is ready and will start on Saturday".

QUIZ: How much do you know about Brentford’s January signings?

The Frenchman has been nothing short of excellent during his first season in English football netting ten goals in 29 Championship appearances, assisting six more as well.

He made the move to West London from French outfit Troyes and he looks to be another example of the club's fantastic scouting network.

The January transfer window saw plenty of speculation surrounding Ollie Watkins and Said Benrahma who may well follow the likes of Andre Gray, Ezri Konsa and Neal Maupay in leaving the club for a hefty fee come the summer.

As things stand the Bees sit in fourth place but just four points behind second-placed Leeds United.

The verdict

This is excellent news for Brentford.

Mbeumo has become a pivotal member of this team, which is a bit surprising given his age and lack of experience in English football, but that is simply down to Brentford's scouting team.

It is a testament to them that he has become so essential. Emiliano Marcondes performed admirably in his place last weekend but there is no doubt that Mbeumo remains the stronger option.
