Fran Villalba was signed by Birmingham City in the summer on a free transfer from Valencia and it's fair to say he has impressed since joining.

Villalba spent last season loan at Numancia in the second tier of Spanish football where he did well, picking up four goals and seven assists in 39 appearances.

The Spanish midfielder has been a breath of fresh air for Birmingham this season, he has been instrumental on the ball in possession and has kept the Blues ticking over.

He netted his first goal of the season for Birmingham against Middlesbrough and Blues fans will be hoping this is the beginning of many goals that Villalba will net for the club.

The 21-year-old now has his first contribution in a Birmingham shirt and he expressed his delight on his Instagram along with a message for the next game against Leeds United.

The Verdict

The 21-year-old has a lot more to bring to the table for Birmingham City.

He has looked bright in games so far but just needs to start contributing towards the goals as well as keeping his high level of performance up, if Birmingham are to push up the table.

The young star signed a three-year-deal at Birmingham in the summer, giving him time to grow into his role and hopefully for Birmingham fans, showcase his talent even more than he has so far.
