Sheffield United have had another wonderful start to a Championship season and currently sit third in the table after 16 matches.

Chris Wilder brought in plenty of new faces during the summer transfer window, but they were all signings that were truly needed at Bramall Lane.

Dean Henderson arrived as the club's new first-choice goalkeeper and John Egan has been a monster at the back since moving from Brentford.

One player who brought with him very little expectation was striker, David McGoldrick.

With his career waining with Ipswich Town, Paul Hurst decided against renewing his contract at Portman Road, opting to take a more youthful approach.

But, Wilder clearly felt the forward still had plenty to offer so signed him up. He was correct to do so as well.

The attacker has recaptured the form that made him such a success at Ipswich, scoring five goals in 16 appearances from an average of just 2.6 shots per game.

His ability in the air might need a little work, but he's also registered one assist and is doing a great job of getting the best out of Billy Sharp.

The reality is that McGoldrick's resurgence is complete and utter testament Wilder's ability to get the very best out of the players he has.

He turned Leon Clarke into a machine last season and he is doing the same with McGoldrick this time around. Who knows where it could take the Blades.
