West Brom begin life without Harvey Barnes today after Leicester City recalled the winger after his fine spell at The Hawthorns.

The 21-year-old arrived at Albion in the summer and managed to score nine goals and provide six assists in a very productive 26 games. As well as that, he impressed with his overall ability on the ball and pace.

Therefore, it's fair to say it was a major blow for the Baggies when the Premier League side decided to recall him.

And, Barnes has now opened up on his time at The Hawthorns, sending a lengthy message on twitter thanking those at the club for how they helped his career develop.

"Would just like to say a massive thank you to everyone involved with @WBA for making my time there so special.

"I was delighted to be given the opportunity to the help the team have a successful first half of the season and I wish them the best of luck for the second half.

"I also can’t thank the fans enough for the support on the pitch every game and for taking so well to me as a player. I wish the club all the success for the future. BOING BOING."

Boss Darren Moore is sure to be on the lookout for a new attacking player following Barnes' departure.

The Verdict

Losing Barnes was a significant blow for Albion and they will have to adapt to cope without his pace, skill and goals.

However, it will please the fans to see that the player had so much time for the club even though he was only with them for a few months.

It's a move that worked out for all parties and now Barnes will be looking forward to showing what he can do in the top-flight.
