Angel Rangel has vowed to show respect to Swansea supporters when his QPR team face the Welsh side on Wednesday night.

The full-back spent 11 years at the club, and is seen by many supporters as a Swans legend. During the course of his time in Wales, he won two promotions as well as the League Cup, playing a pivotal role in their journey to the Premier League.

Last season, Swansea were thrashed 4-0 at Loftus Road, and Rangel was involved in a spat with away supporters. He has insisted the same won't happen again, and stated that sometimes 'mistakes' are made.

Speaking to BBC Sport Wales, Rangel said: "I am going to respect the Swans fans. I am going to give them a wave. They deserve it for everything they have done for me over the years.

"It's always special to play against Swansea - I love the club. They were great to me for so long.

"It will be good to see some old faces but obviously the aim is to win the game."

On last year's incident, he said: "In life you have to learn from mistakes. I got a bit fired up that week, a bit upset about some messages.

"I should have ignored it and I didn't. I did apologise and I will say again, I have no problem with the fans and I will give them the respect they deserve whatever the result."

The Verdict

An entertaining game proceeds on Wednesday at Loftus Road. It'll be interesting to see what type of reception Rangel will receive from the Swansea supporters.

Having spent 11 years at the club, he really didn't need to do entice Swansea fans when they last met in April. It it totally disrespectful and does undo a lot of the work he has done, in terms of fan relations.

He still must not be forgotten by the Swansea faithful, but it'll be interesting to see what type of reaction he gets.
