Released QPR defender Nedum Onuoha has spoken to the Sunderland Echo about his next move in football, and appeared to quash any talk of him signing back for the club.

Onuoha enjoyed a spell with the Black Cats before making the move to QPR a few seasons back, and with his time at Loftus Road coming to an end, there has been plenty of talk about him potentially making a return to the club.

However, the former Man City defender appeared not too keen on making that move in his comments, instead highlighting his want to 'experience something different' before he calls time on his career.

"There’s been rumours, but nobody who represents me has been approached, or even mentioned it. “I think the club needs to get back to the top division, and as much as I’d like to help them get there, time isn’t on my side like it once was so I’ll be looking to try and experience something a little different before I decide to call time on things.

“Who knows in football though? Stranger things have happened – but I’d say it’s unlikely.” said Onuoha.

The big defender was a mainstay of the QPR defence last season and will be hopeful of a move back into the Championship rather than dropping into League One.
