Former Aston Villa defender John Terry has spoken highly of key midfielder Jack Grealish, insisting the youngster will become a 'top Premier League player and an England international'.

In a frank interview with the Daily Mail, Terry made the comments and spoke of how impressed he had been with Grealish, even considering the midfielder to be in the same mould as England legend Paul Gasgcoine.

"Jack will be a big, big player,' he says. 'I hope Villa can come up and he gets his chance in the Premier League that way. I can see why Spurs wanted him.

'Right now he's in the right place. I think he will become a top Premier League star and an England international" added Terry.

Grealish became a key man for Villa last season as his form inspired the club to the playoff final, and Terry was full of praise for the youngster, commenting on how he is 'looking after himself' off the pitch, something Terry believes will 'serve Grealish well' in his career.

Villa fans were hoping to see Terry re-sign with the club in the coming days but those hopes seem to have been dashed, with Terry set to sign a deal with Russian side Spartak Moscow.

The club have made an indifferent start to the Championship season after being dismantled by Sheffield United last weekend.

Villa fans, do you echo Terry's comments? Can Grealish make it to the top? Let us know in the comments!
