Paddy Kenny has backed Sander Berge to thrive in a more attacking role for Sheffield United.
Slavisa Jokanovic has plenty of options in midfield and he decided to use the Norwegian international as one of the attacking midfield trio when he came on against Preston in the week. And, Berge responded in style, scoring with a well-taken finish in the 2-2 draw.
“When he gets that ball and travels with it, he’s unbelievable. You can’t get anywhere near him, defenders bounce off him. He is a big strapping and I really like the way he runs with that ball.
“It would be nice to see him play a bit more advanced because he looks really good in those attacking positions.”
Berge will be hoping his contribution from the bench in the week will have been enough to convince the boss to give him a start when the Blades travel to take on Hull tomorrow.
22 things all Sheffield United fans simply must know – But do you?
This is certainly something that could work, because, as Kenny points out, Berge is capable of beating players with his power and quality on the ball.
As well as that, it will mean he is in more goalscoring positions, and his finish against North End shows that Berge should be able to chip in with a few this season.
So, this is worth experimenting with and it will be interesting to see if Berge is in the XI for the game this weekend.
