Former Real Madrid man emerges as serious early contender to replace Warburton at Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest could make a quick move to replace outgoing manager Mark Warburton, with former Middlesbrough manager and Real Madrid coach Aitor Karanka emerging as the early favourite for the job.

According to a report in the Nottingham Post, Karanka has emerged as the shortest priced odds favourite to take over at the City Ground following the dismissal of Warburton this morning.

Karanka has been out of working since losing his job at Boro manager last year, with the Teesiders choosing to sack Karanka following a poor start to the season in the Premier League. However, the former Madrid defender and coach has credentials and experience in the Championship following his title winning season with Boro.

Forest will be keen to make a quick appointment in light of Waburton leaving the club, with the Reds owners no doubt keen to bring someone in and get things going early in January as the club look to avoid a second successive season of battling relegation.

Karanka could well fit the mould for the sort of manager the club wants to bring in, although other contenders are emerging by the hour.

Forest fans, would you be happy with Karanka? Let us know in the comments!
