Queens Park Rangers moved up to tenth in the Championship table, just four points outside the play-off places, with a fine 1-0 win at Nottingham Forest.

It was their first ever win away at Forest, a run that stretched back to 1934, and it moved them to within one point of Aitor Karanka's expensively assembled squad. It also gave their former player, Jack Robinson, something to think about this Christmas.

He claimed his current side would 'blow away' QPR, a comment that surely came back to haunt him despite his own competent display in the game.

The pre-match interview didn't go unnoticed by the former QPR owner Tony Fernandes either, who made sure he took the time to respond in the aftermath of their excellent win.

He sold the club earlier this season, opening up a new era, but he's still a fan and was clearly delighted that Robinson was on the losing side.

QPR now face Ipswich and Reading at Loftus Road as they look to sustain their unlikely promotion challenge.

The Verdict

What a great feeling it must be, not only for Fernandes but also the QPR fans. Losing Robinson was a blow this summer, but having those comments in the media this week must have rankled.

Instead of being proven right, they've underlined their potential as well as given Robinson some words to eat along with his turkey. The fact he let Leistner go for the only goal of the game made it even sweeter.
