Queens Park Rangers have confirmed on their official website that former manager Neil Warnock has returned to the club in a part-time advisory role as they look to improve their start to the season.

The experienced Warnock was manager of the club from 2010 until 2012, and helped the R's to promotion to the Premier League, although he was replaced by Mark Hughes after a poor start to life in the top-flight.

The former Crystal Palace and Leeds manager came into the club at a time when they needed some stability after disposing of a number of managers, and he came in and guided the club to the Championship title.

He was sacked by chairman Tony Fernandes as he felt that Hughes would be able to do a better job, but manager Chris Ramsey has decided that bringing Warnock in may help transform Rangers' season into a promotion-chasing campaign.

Warnock's arrival will only add to speculation that Ramsey is on his way out of Loftus Road, but Director of Football Les Ferdinand has said that the 66-year old's arrival does not increase pressure on the manager.

Ferdinand told the official site: 'Chris has the final say on team selection, as he has done since the moment he took the job. He is a very astute person and he's not above listening to anyone - it was his idea to speak to Neil in the first place.'

Ramsey and Ferdinand will now be hoping that Warnock's experience of promotion to the Premier League, as well as his popularity with the fans, will help them kick-start their season so they can aim for an immediate return to the Premier League.

Ramsey's side lost for a fourth time this season, and the second time in three matches, this afternoon, going down 2-1 at Birmingham City.
