Cardiff City of the Sky Bet Championship have confirmed the signing of free agent Kieran Richardson, the club confirmed on their official website, of course subject to international clearance.

Manager Neil Warnock was only appointed last week and has already made his fourth signing since, with the arrivals of; winger Junior Hoilett, defender Sol Bamba and forward Marouane Chamakh.

Richardson can operate at left-back or, if wanted, as a wide left midfielder.

The 31-year-old started his career with Premier League giants Manchester United in between 2002 and 2007 before moving to Sunderland, where he made 134 appearances in five years.

He then signed for Fulham in 2012. Kieran Richardson spent two seasons at Craven Cottage before joining Aston Villa two years ago but got released by the Midlands club after their relegation from the top-flight last season.

Cardiff City have confirmed that the versatile wide-man will wear the number 15 shirt and signs on a short-term deal.
