Former Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson has revealed he would be interested in succeeding Darren Moore as West Brom manager.

The Baggies sacked their former player in March, with Jimmy Shan taking over on a caretaker basis until the end of the season, which came earlier this month as Albion lost in the play-off semi-final.

Since then, the focus has been on recruiting a new boss and Pearson told the Express & Star that the chance to lead a promotion push for the Baggies would appeal.

"Is it a job which I would be interested in? Of course it would be. It's a club with stature and it’s a very attractive proposition. But ultimately it's down to what direction the club want to go in."

Pearson has previously worked at The Hawthorns as assistant to Bryan Robson and he looks back on his time at the club fondly.

"I loved my time at the club, it was very well run back then. Jeremy Peace wasn't everybody's favourite but he was somebody who understood what the club needed to function at the level it was at.

The 55-year-old, who won promotion from the Championship with the Foxes, has been out of work since leaving Belgian side OH Leuven earlier this year.

The Verdict

You can't imagine this would be a very popular appointment with the fans, however Pearson is a strong figure who could help oversee what will be big changes this summer.

He has won promotion before and knows the club, so there are some advantages to considering him for the role.

It would be a great job from his perspective but there are other candidates who seem to stand out more for this vacancy.
