West Ham United will sign Bournemouth striker Josh King for between £7 million and £10 million in the January window, according to former Premier League forward Gabby Agbonlahor

The Cherries were relegated last term but held onto King while a number of their other prized assets sealed moves back to the top flight.

The Bournemouth striker was linked with a string of Premier League sides, including Aston Villa and West Ham, during the summer but remains at the Vitality Stadium.

That may not be the case for long, however, as Agbonlahor has told Football Insider that he will join the Hammers in the winter window.

He explained: "It’s a move that works for both clubs. Bournemouth don’t want to let him go for free in the summer.

“It might be a figure of maybe £7-10million in January. West Ham will know Antonio will get injuries with the way he plays so they’ll definitely be looking to get him and I think it’s definitely something that’ll get done in January.

“He’ll be a perfect addition and just what West Ham need.”

King has proven his quality at Premier League level, adding nearly 50 goals in the division, but is yet to find the net in his five Championship appearances under Jason Tindall this term.

With his contract set to expire next summer, the Hammers may feel that they can land the Norway international in a cut-price deal to give them more cover up top.

Antonio has made a strong start to the season for West Ham, scoring three times in six games, but is currently missing due to a hamstring issue and has never managed more than 33 Premier League appearances in a single season.

The Verdict

This would certainly seem a move that suits all parties.

West Ham need some more quality up top and King is a proven player at Premier League level.

He would surely be keen on the move as it sees him return to the top tier of English football, while Bournemouth ensure they don't see the player walk away for free next summer.

Other sides may show an interest but it's hard to argue with Agbonlahor that this move would make sense.
