Former Owls man rules himself out of running for Norwich City job

Former Sheffield Wednesday manager Alan Irvine has ruled himself out of the running for the manager’s job at Norwich City, according to a report in the Norwich Evening News.

Irvine was in charge of the Canaries yesterday for the 2-2 draw with Blackburn Rovers, but has no interest in applying for the role of permanent manager.

Irvine said“I won’t apply for the job. I told Alex right from the beginning I am not a threat to him. With my age and experience that could have been regarded as such when I first came in. Even before I agreed to come I wanted that made clear. I can’t tell him that and then apply for the job”.

The news will further fuel the rumours that Alan Pardew could be set to be offered to role at Carrow Road.

Norwich parted company with manager Alex Neil at the end of last week, and are now on the hunt for a new manager, with their playoff ambition seemingly over for this season.

Norwich fans, what do you think? Would you be willing to give Irvine a go? Is Pardew the man you want? Let us know!
