Lee Johnson has revealed how he tried to sign Millwall star Jed Wallace for Bristol City but he never managed to do so, as quoted by EFL on Quest.

Millwall have started this season in fine form and are currently in the play-off places as they look to mount a serious challenge for a spot in the Premier League.

Their win over Preston North End was particularly impressive with a clean sheet to boot and it was Wallace who completed the scoring with the second on the night.

He is a player that has earned praise a lot during his time at Millwall and it is clear that Johnson rates him highly.

The former Bristol City manager was speaking on Quest's EFL highlights show last night and revealed how he tried to get the winger to move to Ashton Gate on more than one occasion:

“For me, Jed Wallace is a top player for the division, I tried to sign him two or three times but failed and it shows the strength of Milwall to retain a player like him.”

The Verdict

Wallace is a quality footballer and it would be fair to say any side in the Championship would like to have him in their squad at the moment.

He's certainly proving one of the league's top stars at the moment and, if he can help get Millwall promoted this season, that would only boost his own reputation further.
