West Bromwich Albion stopper Anders Lindegaard has revealed he doubts he will return to the Hawthorns after his loan spell with Preston North End, according to BT Sport.

The former Manchester United goalkeeper moved to Deepdale on loan from the Baggies in January and was awarded a Man of the Match award upon his home debut against Huddersfield.

He only left Old Trafford in the summer having made just 19 league appearances across his half a decade on the books of the Premier League giants.

However, things did not go to plan for the 32-year old under Tony Pulis and he found himself relegated to third choice behind the likes of Ben Foster and Boaz Myhill.

Despite having another year left to run on his deal, the Denmark international admits a return is unlikely.

'I don't see myself back at West Brom, I don't think West Brom see themselves having me back,' he said.

'I can't see why it should end up being like that - that would be because we have a contract that we have to respect.'

Having been so long without regular first-team football, he is keen to land a regular starting berth at this stage of his career.

When asked if he would continue with the Lilywhites he replied: 'It's definitely a possibility.'

'We have a dialogue about it and we are getting closer and closer to each other.

'It's a big possibility.'

While manager Simon Grayson admits it would be his preference to have an established stopper in the ranks, having been through a number of temporary options, he admits the Dane's wages may prove to be an issue.

'You don't know what West Brom are going to do with him but it's an option for us to try and consider,' he stated on the matter.

'The problem for us at times is that these Premier League players are on really big wages, that's something we have to try and see if we can sort a deal out.'

North End have proved to be one of the surprise packages of the Championship season, working their way into tenth position in the table.

Though a surprise push for the playoffs is just out of reach, they will no doubt be aiming to finish the season as strongly as possible heading into next.

They welcome MK Dons to Lancashire on Saturday, aiming to stop the rot after two successive losses.
