Carlisle have announced that they have decided to mutually terminate the contract of former Liverpool goalkeeper Dean Bouzanis.
Bouzanis was a hot prospect at Liverpool but injuries scuppered his chance at the big time and he began to be known as a young journeyman in football after playing for six clubs at the tender age of 23.
He was once referred to by Rafa Benetiz as “The best goalkeeper in the world for his age” during his four-year stint with the club.
Bouzanis had joined Carlisle on 28th January this year after leaving Greek Superleague side Aris in the same month. However, he failed to live up to his reputation and failed to break into the first team squad. During his 3 month stay at Carlisle he made no appearances at the club.
Since releasing him today, Carlisle have decided to extend the loan of Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford until the end of the season to replace the injured Mark Gillespie for the remainder of the league.
