Leeds United had to make do with yet another season in the Championship, after they lost out on promotion to the Premier League in the play-offs last season.

But Marcelo Bielsa's side will have to dust themselves down again, and challenge for promotion once again when the new season gets underway in August.

In a recent interview with Leeds' official website (quotes sourced from the Yorkshire Evening Post), Kalvin Phillips stated that he feels as though the current squad is good enough to be in the Premier League.

Former Leeds defender, Danny Mills has responded to this statement in an interview with Football Insider, and hit back at Phillips after the bold claim.

"No, is the answer to that. It’s very, very difficult as a player to come out and say we’re not good enough for the Premier League.

"Whatever players say is going to be taken to the extreme one way or the other."

Mills went on to state that he doesn't think that the current squad are cut out to play in the Premier League, especially when they weren't good enough to win promotion last season.

"If he comes out and says: 'No, we're not quite good enough for the Premier League,' which they weren’t last year, is he being honest? Yes. Will people accuse him of being disrespectful, not being positive enough? Every chance.

"I don’t think that the squad as it stands, it wasn’t good enough to win the Championship so it’s clearly not good enough to be in the Premier League."
