Paul Robinson has revealed that he is surprised some of the top clubs in England haven't tried to take Marcelo Bielsa away from Leeds United.

The Argentinian has done a brilliant job since he came to this country, guiding the Whites to the play-offs last season and they currently lead the way in the Championship. As well as the good results, the style of play has been great to watch for the fans too.

Of course, Bielsa already had a great reputation in the world of football, with Mauricio Pochettino and Diego Simeone just some high-profile figures to praise the Leeds boss, whilst Pep Guardiola has branded Bielsa the best manager in the world.

With that in mind, combined with his success at Elland Road, Robinson admitted he thought the elite would chase Bielsa when speaking to MOT Leeds News.

"I’m really surprised that he’s not been linked with top Premier League jobs. His track record is second to none, top players and top managers like Pochettino saying what an outstanding manager he is, and the job he’s done at Leeds.

"He has a scientific approach and he doesn’t leave it to others. He seems to have to know everything about anything that’s going on. It gives you a huge respect for the man."

The verdict

It was a major coup for Leeds to get Bielsa to drop to the Championship and that has been evident with the job he has done.

Given his history, you can understand what Robinson is saying and it would be great to see Bielsa working with a Champions League club in this country.

However, he has a great thing at Leeds right now and there's no way he would consider leaving with promotion on the cards and he will back himself to make the Whites a force again in the coming years.
