Manchester United have recently been linked with a move for Swansea winger, Daniel James (according to Sky Sport), whose future seems as though it will be away from the Championship club in the near future.

The 21-year-old has been in excellent form recently, and finished the season on four goals and seven assists to his name as the Swans finished their league season strongly under Graham Potter.

Speaking in an interview with Football Insider, former Leeds defender, Danny Mills feels as though a move to Old Trafford wouldn't be a wise move for the Welshman in the summer.

"I’m not sure it’s the right move for James, going to Man United with all the turmoil they’re in."

Mills also admitted that James would be considerably far down the pecking order in the Manchester United squad, with competition for place fierce at this moment in time.

"Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Alexis Sanchez are all still there, so he would be competing for a starting place with them."

But the Red Devils have struggled towards the end of this year's campaign, and Mills stated that James should look at other clubs instead ahead of the summer.

"There is disharmony and discord as well. For a younger player like James, he needs to go and learn at a different club.

"He’s a frightening talent and has made real progress in recent months but there would be better clubs for him to go than being at a big club like United, where he would be left out and not improve."

It won't be the last we hear of James being linked with a move to the Premier League, with the youngster already having a number of clubs keeping tabs on him after such an impressive finish to this season.

The Verdict:

I have to agree with Mills here.

There's no doubting that James has the quality to eventually be playing for a team of Manchester United's quality, but I think the timing is all wrong with this one.

He'd be well down the pecking order at Old Trafford, and he should consider a move elsewhere before rushing into a move to the Red Devils.
