Alex Bruce believes that Stuart Dallas is one of the first names on the teamsheet for Leeds United after the versatile Northern Irishman put in another impressive performance against Bristol City yesterday.

The 28-year-old has been a key player in the Whites promotion push and his ability to cover different positions has been impressive, with Dallas featuring at full-back and in midfield over the course of the campaign.

And, he has shone at times, with former Leeds defender Bruce telling Football Insider just how good he has been.

"I look back at teams I’ve played in over the years, he’s one of those lads who he’s the first name on the team sheet because you know what you’re going to get out of him.

"He’s a consistent performer, does exactly what it says on the tin, he’s one of them that goes under the radar but he’s really appreciated by his teammates because when you’re in the Championship, you need those steady-eddies who are going to give you seven out of tens every week and he’s one of them."

Dallas starred at left-back yesterday as the Yorkshire side opened up a three-point lead over Fulham in the race for automatic promotion.

The verdict

These comments from Bruce are completely fair. Dallas has been a reliable performer for Leeds since Bielsa took over and he is certain to start all the time.

It also gives an insight into how the ex-Brentford man will be appreciated by his Whites teammates, who know that he does a job for the team wherever the boss wants.

He was good against the Robins, like the majority of the XI, and it's now about maintaining those high standards moving forward in the quest for promotion.
