Stephen Warnock believes that Marcelo Bielsa risks losing the Leeds United dressing room if he fails to take the club back to the Premier League this season.

The Argentinian's demanding methods are well-known, with Bielsa putting the players through a relentless pre-season and he calls for a real high intensity approach in games.

And, whilst he has transformed the club since taking over, Warnock, who played over 60 games for the Whites, told the Express that the players will want results and suggests they could lose faith in the boss if they don't win promotion in what is his second year in charge.

"I think the way he trains players, the way he goes about things, he’s very intense. I think he needs to take them up this season otherwise the players will find it difficult under him.

"Because everything he puts into the squad, the hours of commitment – everyone says “that should be the norm” but he goes beyond the realm of that – the players could become frustrated by it and think: ‘We’re still not getting there."

Leeds are back in action against Blackburn this afternoon and could go top with a win.

The verdict

I'm not sure I agree with Warnock here and I'm not sure many others will.

Working under a coach with Bielsa's reputation should be a dream for most Championship players and every player in the Leeds squad will acknowledge that he has improved their games.

So, whilst you can perhaps understand Warnock's point, the reality is that the squad should enjoy working under Bielsa for as long as they can because he is a top level coach.
