Former Leeds United striker Luciano Becchio has sent a passionate message to his former club on social media, ahead of their Championship clash with Brentford this evening.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side are preparing for a must-win game against the Bees at Griffin Park, as they look to keep the pressure on rivals Sheffield United in the Championship’s automatic promotion race.
The Whites’ top two hopes suffered a blow on Good Friday, when they lost 2-1 at home to ten-man Wigan Athletic, allowing Sheffield United to move above them in the table.
Leeds are now third, behind the Blades on goal difference, with Chris Wilder’s side also in action this afternoon against Hull City.
Ahead of the crucial clash at Griffin Park, Becchio has shown support to his former club, by posting this photo on his personal Instagram story on Monday afternoon.
The post shows the striker on his knees celebrating a goal at Elland Road and was accompanied by an encouraging message.
It’s a must-win game for Leeds United this afternoon and it’s good to see Becchio show support for his former side.
Becchio was a fans favourite at Elland Road and he clearly still has a soft spot for his former club and he will be desperate to see them return to the Premier League.
Leeds fans will be hoping that Becchio can inspire the Whites to victory, ahead of what could be a defining day in the Championship promotion race.
