According to an exclusive report by the Daily Star, former Leeds United defender Danny Mills believes that current Leeds defender Pontus Jansson will stay at the club.
Pontus Jansson joined Leeds last summer on a season-long loan from Serie A outfit Torino and his deal has since been made permanent.
The powerful Sweden international has become a firm fans’ favourite at Elland Road after forming a solid partnership with fellow loan star Kyle Bartley.
The 26-year-old has been attracting interest from the Premier League, though, with Southampton keen to sign the passionate defender in a big money move to replace Virgil Van Dijk.
However, Danny Mills believes that Jansson will stay because Premier League clubs will not be willing to fork out big money on the Leeds star after just one season in England.
The former England international believes that Jansson will continue as a Leeds player next season and signing Kyle Bartley is a more pressing concern.
“I think he [Jansson] will stay at Leeds.
“He’s had a good season but I don’t think anyone is going to come in and pay a fortune for him.
“He’s unproven at that level [the Premier League].
“With just one season in the Championship people will be wary.”
