Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder has been hailed as the 'manager of the century' by former Hull City gaffer Phil Brown.

The words from Brown came on Channel 5's Football League highlights show last night, and were reported by the Sheffield Star.

The Blades manager and lifelong United fan has taken his hometown club back to the Championship and into third place after what has been a stunning start to the season, and he has clearly impressed Brown, who said:

“We have three examples of teams promoted from our division last season, in Sheffield United, Millwall and Bolton. One’s right at the top and has been all season, one’s in the middle and one’s right at the bottom. I think it’s momentum with United - it’s a big club and the whole support is going along with it - but Chris Wilder has got to be manager of the century.

The comments are slightly over exaggerated to a point, but it is clearly a testament to just how well Wilder is doing to be drawing such comments and praise.

United continued their good form yesterday with a 2-1 home win over Reading at Bramall Lane, with goals coming from Paul Coutts and Billy Sharp. They take on Leeds United next weekend in a crucial top of the table clash at Elland Road.

Blades fans, what do you make of these comments? Give us your thoughts on Wilder!
