Sheffield Wednesday could be set to appoint former Everton midfielder Predrag Radosavljevic in a coaching capacity, after the Serbian-American left his post as manager of Sacramento Republic.

The 52-year-old, commonly known by his nickname 'Preki', announced that he was stepping down from the American third division club to take on a role in the UK.

Radosavljevic revealed in statement on the club's official website that "the opportunity ahead is a lifetime dream for me and a chance to challenge myself at the highest level of the game," prompting widespread speculation that he was to succeed Nigel Pearson at Leicester City, who was sacked earlier this month.

However, Leicester Mercury reporter Rob Tanner understands that the former Portsmouth midfielder will not join the Foxes, and could instead take on a role at Sheffield Wednesday.

Tanner tweeted that Radosavljevic is a friend of former Owls owner Milan Mandaric, and could take up a coaching role under new manager Carlos Carvalhal, who was confirmed as the club's new head coach last week.
