Queens Park Rangers goalkeeper Rob Green has expressed his frustration over his lack of game time at Loftus Road over the last few months, reports the Daily Mail.

Rob Green is counting the days until he can leave QPR

The 36-year-old has not played for the West London club since New Year's Day, losing his place because he would earn a contract extension if he plays 30 Sky Bet Championship games this term. Thus far, he has appeared 24 times in the league.

QPR have been anxious to cut costs and have been looking to offload Green, as it would dip heavily into their finances to improve the goalkeeper’s wages at the club.

The former England goalkeeper has revealed that he is desperate to play and is counting down the days to finding a new club when his contract runs out in June.

He told the Daily Mail about a conversation with manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink soon after he arrived at the club, saying: 'Then Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink spoke to me soon after he arrived. He said, "Look, it's nothing personal but because of budgets and things you're not going to make the 30 games".'

Green was linked with a swap-deal with Crystal Palace in January with Alex McCarthy returning to his former club, but the deal never went through.

Alex Smithies has taken over as QPR's first choice goalkeeper, and manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has brought in former Wycombe Wanderers shot stopper Matt Ingram which has seen Green slide further down the pecking order.

It remains to be seen where Green ends up in the summer, but there will undoubtedly be a number of clubs interested in moving for the 36-year-old.
