Former Derby County striker Darren Bent has revealed he's keen to keep playing once his time at Pride Park comes to an end.

The 34-year-old spent the second part of last season on loan at Burton Albion, scoring in their crucial 2-1 win against Sunderland in April. His loan spell has now expired, but he's keen to keep playing as long as he can.

"There's been a few enquiries here and there," Bent told talkSPORT's World Cup Sports Bar show. "It's a case of staying fit and picking the right one."

"Ultimately, I want to keep playing and I don't want to stop.

"So it's just about what comes up really, and if it feels right and it looks right on paper then I'll give it a go, but first and foremost, I want to keep playing."

Bent, who played 13 times for England scoring four goals, has 568 senior appearances under his belt and 217 goals.

He was once the record signing for both Spurs (£18m) and Aston Villa (£24m), but is now available on a free transfer. He joined Derby on a free transfer just four years after the Villa move, scoring 16 times in three seasons.

The Verdict

Someone will get a decent striker in Darren Bent, but more than likely someone in League One or Two. He could make a massive difference in the basement division, but is he willing to sacrifice wages over playing the game? If he is then he might have a year or two left in him yet.
