Former Derby County player Kevin Wilson has labelled Jayden Bogle as the best right-back in the league, despite making a huge error against Nottingham Forest at the weekend.

The 19-year-old, who was given his chance in the first-team by Frank Lampard last term, has made 10 appearances for the Rams under Phillip Cocu this season.

The right-back has been an impressive figure for the Rams, and was even linked with a move to Brighton and Hove Albion in the summer.

But Bogle made a terrible mistake at the weekend which ultimately gifted Nottingham Forest the three points - his back-pass was pounced on by Lewis Grabban, who slotted coolly under Kelle Roos.

That goal proved to be decisive for Forest, with Sabri Lamouchi's side claiming bragging rights over their arch rivals for the second time this season.

But speaking to Rams TV in episode 17 of the Derby County Show, former Ram Kevin Wilson offered backing for Bogle, hailing him as Premier League quality and the best right-back in the league.

He said: "Bogle for me is still the Championship’s best right-back and as good as some of them in the Premier League. He’s made the mistake on Saturday, but we all make mistakes.

"It’s how he comes out of it and how he goes forward. We just need to start getting those results away from home and taking those chances."

After their defeat at the City Ground, Derby occupy 16th spot in the Sky Bet Championship table after losing three of their last five matches.

The Verdict

I think it's quite a bold claim calling Bogle the best right-back in the league - I think he should look at Forest defender Matty Cash, firstly.

Of course, one mistake doesn't make him a bad player and on the whole, he has been impressive since being called up to the first-team.

But in my view, he doesn't offer enough going forward to make him one of the best in the league.
